I have to say that this is perhaps one of the most informative comments I’ve read in awhile about religion. The comment you made in paragraph 4 should be copied and sent to every single person in this world who professes to be of a religion. And if it is that there religion falls to give an answer to even one of those points. They should seriously re-examine why they are even in that religion to begin with, because it would become obvious whether they are in a false religion or the true religion. In truth, a true religion should be able to answer every one of those points made in paragraph 4.

Yitzchok Adlerstein: Most of the Christian press ignores its statements.

Ori: This blog often decries the villification of Charedim in the mainstream Israeli press and the US Jewish press. At the risk of sounding contrary and condescending (since I’m Heterodox myself), that may be a good thing.

As long as we Heterodox have to explain, sometimes at the top of our lungs, why we are not Orthodox, it means we are arguing with the Orthodox position. Argument implies the possibiliy of a change of position.

If the Heterodox media were to ignore Orthodoxy, or treat it as an anthropological phenomena rather than a threat, that would mean there is no reason to argue with it, because there is no draw towards it, just like there is no draw, for example, towards the customs of the Navajo.
