Is Gemara Really Studied in Korea?

Not as we know it.

I’ve had substantial connection with the Korean community for well over a decade. I’ve traveled there to lecture on Jewish topics, and I stay in close contact with a Judaism-friendly pastor who runs what he calls the Shma Institute. The story that went viral about all Korean households having a copy of the Talmud in Korean translation was simply not believable.

Since so many people are still speaking about the story, and accepting it as true, I’m linking to two follow-up articles that tell a different story.
