    Personally, this is something I know I have struggled with; many of my friends have as well. Thank you Rabbi Shafran for an honest and well-worded essay about an important topic that I feel is often ignored/swept under the rug for the more comfortable yet false assumption that as long as actions and dress are in line, everything inside must be completely fine.

    Rabbi Shafran: Instead of using art as a mashal for personal authenticity, why not focus on the mashal itself? Why don’t you use the occasion to vist MOMA or the Met or the Frick and take a look at the great paintings there?
