During the 2012 campaign, authors here had a lively exchange of opinions about President Obama. I respectfully invite the 2012 Obama supporters to try to explain how the Obama nominations discussed above are not a threat to Israel, or else to recant their previous support. It’s not proper to let grave matters slide because many of us have become dependent on Federal government assistance. Non-Jews have already begun to notice the peculiar silence of timid Jewish organizations. I can’t see how supporters of Israel can further alienate Obama who was self-alienated from the start.

By the way, shouldn’t the headline here read “…Worse than the Last” ?

Yes, and can’t we please get a rebuttal from Dr. Luchins about this.

I imagine that Pres Obama’s supporters will cite Jack Lew’s nomination to counter Hagel’s and Brennan’s. Sort of in the spirit of “some of my best friends are Jews”…

Let’s not forget Jack Lew who’s claim to fame other than being orthodox is that he’s known as one of the nastiest political hacks in DC.

    How would that help?

  8. Bob Miller says:

Dovid2, if they recanted, we could begin taking their positions on US politics seriously.

How any Jew can still support such a man so openly hostile to Israel like the current occupant in the White House is, is beyond my understanding. It is also pretty embarrassing when confronted with the fact that tens of millions of Christians apparently care a whole lot more about Israel, than do a majority of American Jews. Very depressing.

Yes, the US is sending the government of Israel a message. Today, so did the people of Israel. Bibi can no longer act with strident effrontery.

That is libelous and wholly false.

To the contrary, Lew is admired as one of the finest and most decent men to work in the DC establishment. Articles have been written about this. Look them up.

Meanwhile I’m disappointed that somebody’s already copyrighted the term “Realism” to describe their ideology of foreign policy. I guess I’ll have to use some other catchy term to describe my own school….. maybe “Truthful”, “Honest” or “Smart”.

To be a decent, loyal and effective retainer of an evil boss with evil policies is not so good.

Jews throughout our many years of exile have had this challenge: if you could earn a good living working for the non-Jewish king, nobleman, or other guy in charge, is it worth the risk that your boss will make you do objectively bad things to his subjects?
